Digi-pak feedback 18/3/11

We presented our digi-pak today and we received a range of feedback.

Overall the feedback we got were that people like the images we used throughout out digi-pak and went with the conventions of a girl band and it was clear what image we wanted to create.

Sadly in our text we had a few spelling mistakes, but this is the only negative criticism for this. the font was well received and people like the way it looked and that it was different from the normal. The colour scheme we used also was liked by all and went with what we were wearing in our photos.

Referring to the layout the text fitted well and people like the text in the bios against the trees as it doesn't draw the attention away from us. However the picture size and shapes weren't all the same so this needs to be looked over and changed.

Our digi-pak focused on our audience well and gives us a real girl band image and our clothes help us to do this and we were all co-ordinated well. This includes the poses and over all look from the photos. The photos looked glamorous and this gave us exactly the look we wanted.

Our class thought our photos looked professional and used the sun and natural light to our advantage and the images look crisp. However we need to improve the shaping of the images and make them all the same size to make it look more like a digi-pak.

Editing digi-pak 15/3/11

Today was the last day we had to edit our digi-pak before presenting it on the 18th March.

Today we had to editing and refine the pictures, we did this by changing the colour to increase the richness and make it look a deeper and more interesting colour.

We also needed to add some text to the rest of the band profiles and the front and back cover.

Digi-pak 11/3/11

Despite finding the photoshop at school didnt give us everything we wanted, we still decided as a group to try and edit parts of it. And Charlotte would have to quickly edit bits at home but we all made a contribution in class and Charlotte assured us she could do it quickly so we werent loading her with work unfairly as she is the only one to have photoshop at home. So also arranged to meet the following Tuesday (15/3/11) so and for Charlotte to bring her laptop in so we could all have a go.

So in this lesson we began to edit Charlottes digi-pak, we couldnt use "blackjack" font as it didnt work on this photoshop so we used "Rockwell" which was similar.
It was hard to think of what to write in our band profiles to start with, as the unique thing about our band was that we are aiming at a slightly older audience compared to usual girl bands so we wanted a more grown up profile. In the end we decided to tell our story and how we came toegther as a band.

Magazine advert feedback (5th March)

This is the magazine advert Charlotte, Jodie and I presented:

We gained feedback on this:

Positive feedback:

Over all everyone gave us good feedback, everyone thought the look we went for was spot on and they liked the editing choices we made. The class liked the full length and liked that we were looking into the camera as it draws the viewer in.
They also liked the linked to our video by being in the forest.
The class also liked the font we used and the colour range.

Negative feedback:

There wasnt really a lot of bad feedback, but what we did get ewas very constructive.
Almost everyone agreed we should move the "missing you" up to our legs and position it more into the advert to make it clearer because otherwise it doesnt look as important. Also to change all the words to start with capital letters or all lower case as this was missed when editing. And finally to make the icons for the music providers smaller.

All of the feedback I would agree with and feel it helped us to get more of an understanding to hear this from other people.

Time to change it for second draft...

Target audience screening

I showed this group of 5 people our music video in order to see if we hit the target audience correctly and to see what they think in general.

Overall I would say that everyone enjoyed watching it.

What they all agreed on was that it was perfect looking for a girl band and we hit all of the typical things but with our own style and this is what we were aiming for!

We looked professional and they were impressed with the lip-syncing. They all had fun watching it and were all impressed by the editing that had been done to it and were shocked that we can do it using the equipment that we have.

I am pleased with the feedback we got and the only critism was that the outfits in the flashbacks could of changed more but this is a minor thing when looking at the video as a whole.

Digi-pak

We chose to do the digi-pak second because there was so much to do for it and we didnt want to rush it so we did make a plan and chose the photo's we wanted to use.

The digi-pak is to be presented on the 18th March.

Here is the order of the digi-pak:

Inside the booklet:

Band profile (inside booklet)

Profile- sample:

From these pictures we can see we have chosen typically girl band images and look. We felt it was important to do this even though we didnt want to copy The Saturdays we still thought it went with our look and target audience.

For these we were just going to edit the picture as a whole and not have the background back and white and us in colour like the magazine advert.

Which magazine?

This has been something as a group we have debated for many weeks. We know we wouldnt be in a music magazine like NME as this mainly focuses on bands and not girl bands so this isnt the road we want to go down.

However, we have decided we would probably fit best in a magazine like Cosmopolitan, Glamour or Look. As they all focus on the glamour look and all the adverts and people init are well done up and fitting with our target group. We figure most of the people that will listen to our music will also read these magazines. Although it isnt usual for music adverts to feature in these magazines we can focus on the adverts that would be in these as they do relate to our group and task.

Magazine advert

We decided to present our magazine advert first, however on tuesday (1/3/11) we couldn't get the photoshop to do everything we wanted to so we planned it as much as we could and Charlotte said we would touch up what we wanted to so we could have it perfect to Fridays presentation (5/3/11)

This is the original photo we have decided to use for our magazine advert:

This is our draft magazine advert.

To get this on photoshop we played around with the colour and tones until we found what we wanted.

We decided we wanted to have the background black and white and us in colour as well as the writing and the icons.

We did try it with us black and white aswell as the background but we thought this just looked basic and the same as most and we want our advert to stand out. I think it works well so now just to wait for the feedback.

Photoshot 27/2/11

Luckily the weather looked up for us today, and just as we finished taking the photo's it began to rain then so our timing was good!

We were able to go ahead with the photoshot.

To take the photo's we had Jodie's sister with us on hand. When we got there we saw it was a good location. Still cold but the sun was shining so we hoped this would help light the shots and create so good shadows.

Here are two of my favourite shots from today:

So now we had all of our photos done we planned to meet up on tuesday (1/3/11) to decide and edit what photos we wanted.

New plan!

After gong to Epping Forest and seeing that it was going to be suitable as a group we then had to come up with a new plan.

We still wanted to take the photos in a woods to stick with the same look so we had from the Monday (21/2) to the Saturday (26/2) as we were planning to take the photos that Sunday so we could work on them in lesson time the following week and our deadline was the 5th of March!! So we didn't have a lot of time.

Not only this but I had seen the weather forecast and it looked as though it was going to be raining so this was a worry that we might not be able to judge this until Sunday and by then it would be too late.

However, once we had all got back to each other Charlotte suggested we try Broxbourne woods. This would be a good idea because if it did rain we wouldn't have travelled as far and we could litterally take a 10 minute drive and go back conveniently if we needed too.

Epping Forest Prep Photos - 21/2/11

These photos are some of the places we filmed in, although this doesn't show quite how muddy it was. It was so bad we were doubting that we would be able to take our photo's here as we would be able to take one and then be really muddy or just sink all together.
So now it was time for a change of plan.

Change of plan! 19/2/11

We knew that the pictures that we took would be used for both the digi-pak and the magazine advert, so this was still the same. However, we couldn't get the family friend in time for when we needed. So we decided to follow the theme of our video we would go back to Epping Forest and be more casual but still glamour and using the natural props around us.

As this was planned during the week before half term and Charlotte was going away in half term, Laura, Jodie and I have planned to meet up in half term and go to Eping forest to look at how much its changed since we were there and get prep pictures so we could just come here when we were all back and just get the photos done.

Outfits:
Jeans
Blouse
Heels

Makeup:
Done up
Eye-lashes
+ Nice hair

We all agreed on changing the idea because we wanted to come away from the same look as The Saturdays as we were worried we were coming to close to it.

Photoshots?

For our ancillary tasks we need to have a day where we can take a range on photos.

Originally for this we wanted to have a professional shot done by a family friend.

So we began to plan our outfits which would be casual glamour, we must be well done up and then from this we could photo shop it to what we desired.
